The town has a population of nearly 400,000 and boasts London’s only tram network which connects Wimbledon, Beckenham, Elmers End and New Addington. There are currently plans to extend to Sutton and Crystal Palace.

Opened in 2016, and situated next to East Croydon station, is the second Boxpark to be established following on from the first success in Shoreditch. The units focus on food and drink outlets.

To the south of the town centre is a large selection of restaurants, bars and pubs which has in recent years been rebranded as the ‘Restaurant Quarter’.

In the town centre, Surrey Street Market has traded for over 700 years and it is the oldest known street market in the UK. Open seven days a week it provides a mixture of foods, fashion, arts and crafts as well as entertainment.

Purley Way features a number of large retail parks, namely Valley Park Retail and Leisure Complex, Croydon Fiveways and Colonnades Leisure Park.

The multi-million pound refurbishment of the Fairfield Halls comes to a finish in 2019 and provides Croydon with South London’s largest Arts venue.
