The business was originally founded in 1968 by John’s late father Keith and traded as ‘Keith Dallas’ for decades. John joined in 2008 following a successful career at a large corporate estate agency. Keith passed way suddenly in 2011 after which the business was rebranded as John Dallas. The rebranding also involved modernisation of the systems and software but the traditional emphasis on reputation is very much retained.
The contrast between corporate estate agency and an owner run independent estate agency is remarkable. Staff turnover in big estate agency can be incredibly high so clients are often dealing with different members of staff, whereas John enjoys the fact he regularly gets repeat business from his customers and he hopes to do so for at least another decade to come.
It is often suggested by big companies that they have access to more buyers however in reality this is not normally the case. We advertise on more websites than most of the corporate agents and our properties are seen by thousands of people each month on Rightmove, Onthemarket, Zoopla and Primelocation. Sensible pricing combined with enthusiastic and extensive marketing ensures our properties sell quicker on average than most of our competitors. Once a buyer is found we personally oversee the sale to exchange of contracts and completion.
